SHAME !

Last Wednesday we had over forty Long Island Village owners take time out of their lives to attend a Coffee Meeting,. These meetings are non-official and are deemed an owner’s forum where concerns are voiced and questions are asked. Last Wednesday we had five Directors use this forum to distastefully put on a show and seemingly ignore the meeting's purpose.

The actions of these five were reminiscent of what owners witnessed in 2008-09. Instead of doing the logical thing with posting a meeting cancellation notice ahead of time, these five preferred to wait until after the meeting's pledge of allegiance to let owners know the meeting is being cancelled over a current conflict between Directors. The conflict? These five decided to enforce a Bylaw rule where Director Champion can no longer serve on the Board because he had paid a condo fee late. Owners were told that the Village attorney advised the Board that until they vote to accept Mr. Champion's forced resignation, no meeting should have Mr. Champion sit on the Board when Board business is being done.
So what is wrong with this picture?
First, this Coffee Meeting is an unofficial meeting of the owners. No business is allowed to be conducted by the Board. If there was any doubt then this meeting should have been cancelled ahead of time. One can only conclude that this was not done in order to put on a public display.
Second, it’s been noted that a different Director had recently been excused for paying assessments late.
Third, none the five Directors offered alternative ways to address this. They could have easily announced to the audience that until a current situation is resolved, Mr. Champion will not be allowed to respond to owner questions or concerns as a Board representative. They could have also excused themselves and make themselves individually available to owners in the Rec. Hall. They could have even given out their email addresses so that owners could contact them later.
Instead, these five Directors gave the impression that owner's concerns and questions seemed unimportant.

Right on Joe!!! The directors who walked out
showed their true colors. They care less about
the needs of the village and the villagers. They
are more interested in flaunting their distorted
sense of power. What a shameful spectacle!!

Bud,
I just received the tragic news that Director Ramirez was killed yesterday. Please understand that all of this is now unimportant.

Wasn't there, DID Champion sit at the BOD table? I gather from your post Joe that is why the other members had to walk out, confusing. Couldn't Champion have been asked to sit in the audience? Why would Champion choose to sit at the BOD table if in fact he violated BOD rules? If it is a rule, why didn't the BOD vote to accept his resignation? If we don't accept the legal counsel we PAY for why have it? How can we dissolve the Homeowners Association and BOD? Surely there must be a better way to get done what we need to do here and live in peace with equality and justice for all. We are paying for a management company, let them tend to all our needs and if we as owners vote to have a new management company or management system, so be it. Our BOD system is as stated above by anon. on Oct 25 at 9:26, how can we usher in a new era of cooperation and professional, objective management. It is clear that the lure of having your own needs met by being on the BOD is just too tempting for the mere mortals and all this struggle for "Kingdom Building" has cost owners dearly. Please put your brilliant mind to work on that Joe.

Are members of this BOD trying to set us up for another lawsuit? Are they trying to divide the village at a time when it is important to stand united? How can they justify excusing one BOD member and then turn around and remove another BOD member for the very same thing? Remember the old saying......what's good for the goose "should be" good for the gander. I have "no confidence" in this BOD.

The President has shown NONE leadership skills (do us a favor and say Adios amigos) actually none of the current Directors have shown any leadership, walking out of a meeting with the owners...what? ... who appoints this people?
